Tips for Handling Raw Goat Milk
Keep it cold! From pick up to the last drink, your milk should be kept cold. Please bring a cooler with ice packs or a cold bag, designed for keeping items cool while transporting, when you pick up your milk. What temperature is your refrigerator at? Should it be set a degree or two lower? Items kept in the door and on the top shelf of the fridge don't stay as cold because of the room temperature air circulating with the opening and closing of the door and because cold air wants to stay low. Keep your milk cold and it will keep longer.
Raw goat milk. Three highly controversial words! Raw milk: a live food with living bacteria that our bodies thrive on vs.
Pasteurized milk: a dead food containing dead bacteria that confuse our bodies and cause reactions. Those reactions are
seen most often in allergies and mucous build up.
No real question as to which side of the debate we are on!
If you have been told, or decided for yourself, that you are lactose intolerant, I would encourage you to try UN-pasteurized
(raw) milk. Most people are reacting to the dead bacteria and not the milk. Which
leads us into the next topic- Goat vs. Cow. The most noticeable difference is cow milk has larger fat globules that are
harder to digest. Goat milk is easily digested because of their smaller fat globules. Another difference, cow milk is
acidic; goat milk is alkaline.
The research is plentiful and if this is of interest to you, Google is at your fingertips. The best test you can do is
on yourself. You will see the results and not have to rely on another's opinion. Do you have allergies, mucous build up,
other health issues? Choose a healthy trail and give raw goat milk a try.
