At Grace Acres Farm, working with animals everyday is challenging and rewarding. Trying to raise animals in a way that allows for their specific needs to be met while providing for them nutritionally takes diligence and dedicated learning. As we understand more about each animal, we can apply that information to our own lives. We all have specific needs, physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually. We need to care for the whole being to be in good health. By neglecting one component, we throw the entire system out of balance. If you are striving for better health, we want you to be encouraged. You can do it. For most people, it is a gradual change and the slow changes are more likely to be lifelong changes. Take simple steps just one at a time.

Do you still stop for fast food when the day is hectic and rushed even if it's "only once in a while?" Fill some containers with raw nuts, raw seeds, granola and organic raisins* to keep in the car. These items will keep better than fresh fruit in the car and will give you a healthy snack to get you through. Are you ready to eliminate one item from your kitchen that is causing you health problems? Hydrogenated/partially hydrogenated oils. Read labels and commit to not buying a single item that has this ingredient. Are your cupboards full of items containing hydrogenated oils? If you aren't fighting a life threatening illness, use those items up and then replace them with non-hydrogenated items. This will be a gradual switch for you and not a shock to your eating habits!

*Non-organic raisins contain high levels of concentrated pesticides.
